Jakarta is not a dangerous city for a well-briefed visitor, and the most common failure in executive protection here is over-provision: a three-vehicle motorcade and visible security detail that draws attention to a principal who would otherwise have passed unnoticed, while the actual exposures — predictable movement patterns, an unvetted driver, a hotel room booked under the company name, five hours lost to traffic on a day with three meetings — go unaddressed.

IndoRisk provides low-profile protective security in Jakarta and across Indonesia, scaled to a realistic assessment of the threat rather than to the optics of a security presence.

What we provide

How we scale the response

We begin with an assessment of the principal’s actual profile: how publicly identifiable they are, what business they are conducting, whether the visit intersects with a dispute, a labour issue, a regulatory matter or a media interest, and whether family members are present. Most corporate visits to Jakarta require a vetted driver, a well-planned schedule and a competent point of contact — not a detail. Where the profile genuinely warrants close protection, we provide it discreetly, in business dress, in unmarked vehicles.

Where a visit involves higher-risk locations — industrial sites in dispute, plantation or mining concessions, areas with active community tension — the planning is substantially more involved and we will say so at the scoping stage.

Personnel and licensing

Protective security in Indonesia is a regulated activity, and personnel deployment is conducted in accordance with Indonesian requirements. Our operators are selected for judgement and discretion as much as for physical capability; a protection officer whose conduct creates friction with hotel staff, local police or the principal’s own counterparts has made the situation worse, not better. All personnel are vetted, briefed on the specific client and the specific visit, and bound by confidentiality.

Crisis response

For clients with sustained exposure in Indonesia we provide crisis planning and response support, including kidnap, extortion and detention contingency, coordination with insurers and response consultants, and management of the family and corporate communication that surrounds such events. Incidents of this kind are rare in Jakarta and less rare in some resource-sector operating environments.

Frequently asked questions

Can your personnel be armed?

Private firearm carriage in Indonesia is tightly restricted and, in practice, is not part of a commercial protective security posture here. Effective protection in this environment is built on planning, vetting, discretion and access to the right relationships — not on armament.

How much notice do you need?

Forty-eight to seventy-two hours allows proper advance work. We accommodate shorter notice regularly, but the quality of the advance is what makes the difference.

Can you cover travel outside Jakarta?

Yes, nationally, including Bali, Surabaya, and remote sites. We maintain offices in Bali and Surabaya.
